Craft offer free support to anyone in Cardiff and The Vale who is significantly stressed by someone else's alcohol or drug use e.g. a relative, partner or friend. They support the person to look at their own mental health needs e.g. realistic goals to reduce harm, reduce enabling behaviour etc. There is no waiting list at present. 1-1 support up to 12 sessions. They also run support groups. At session 9 they can offer support to user / drinker. They have 4 workers who are supervised by a Clinical Psychologist. Can be contacted directly. Part of IFST (Integrated Family Support Team) who work intensively with families in crisis whose children are at risk of going into care.
Any number of combinations of substance misuse and mental ill health can develop, each with its own set of unique causes and symptoms, as well as its own appropriate intervention methods. The following guide aims to help with this.
